What a Hidden GEM! I have the pastrami which was the Charles Street Special on Jewish Rye. It was the best I have had in a very long time. There's nothing quite like a good hot pastrami sandwich. Make sure you get yours here!
I also had Moorenko's ice cream here. Fantastic.
This historical bank transformed into a cafe is a MUST SEE & EAT in Baltimore!
I really wanted to like this place. Loved the old bank doors at the entrance and overall style of the Cafe. However, my first experience left much to be desired.
I kept it simple with a coffee and avocado toast. There is nothing better than ordering a basic item and then seeing others (that ordered after you) receive their large, more complex breakfasts before you do. Of course, my order was never made, and had I not asked about it 20 minutes later, who knows how long I would have waited. For context, it wasn't busy, and there were only 4 other people eating there. Upon finally receiving my avocado toast, it was beyond disappointing. Image for reference. Bread was flimsy and barely any spread.
The cherry on top of this experience was huge, and I mean HUGE flies. Not sure if this is a common thing in Baltimore, I didn't see any like this anywhere else during my 4 days in the city. I was fortunate enough to catch 2 flies doing their "business" right at the pick-up counter.
David and Dad's is what appears to be an old bank building. This breakfast restaurant is great way to reuse the space. Spacious with plenty of tables to sit. My hotels offers breakfast but this restaurant is way better option with a variety of options. The cashiers/servers are all really nice and helpful; can the owner open up a place in NYC please with the same type of customer service, PLEASE!!!
I ate here almost every day of my stay in Baltimore, the offerings of French toast, home fries, omelettes and iced latte made me a happy foodie.
Any time I am back in Baltimore I will definitely go back to this restaurant.
Amazing eat-in cafe in downtown Baltimore! Pancakes are incredibly fluffy, bagels / croissants taste freshly made & we tried the iced pistachio latte (HIGHLY recommend). Very tasty and affordable with helpful/kind staff. Be sure to try next time you’re in town!
Very cool old building. The food and coffee is inexpensive and not fancy. The service was ok. Not a bad spot to grab a quick breakfast
After searching (fruitlessly) for a good smoothie place downtown I ended up here figuring I’d just get avocado toast, but was psyched to see a lineup of fresh smoothies. Even better they were super cheap, like half of what you’d pay anywhere also. Also ended up with the Greek omelette which was good. Add in great service and a cool setting (maybe an old bank lobby?) and it was a true hidden gem.
Great space! The atmosphere is nice, with a dining area and order counter, and the food and coffee have no complaints from me. I've been twice recently, and tried their Cinnamon French Toast, their Spicy Sausage Burrito, Home Fries, and Cappuccino. Everything has been great so far. The Burrito picture shows some Old Bay and Tabasco sauce, but I added those. Not much in the way of spices on the food I've tried, but everything's still good!
Overall, this is mostly a place to stop by for good, above-average diner-type food and coffee options. The service is good, and the place has plenty of regular customers dining in, so it's easy to recommend!
5/5 stars!
A great value, local-friendly breakfast spot in the heart of Baltimore. My family dined in here for breakfast for two consecutive mornings while staying in the Candlewood Baltimore hotel.
We had an iced cafe latte (I wish it comes with a large size), buttermilk pancakes (airy, soft, reasonably-sized; I wish they have their own syrup or a better one), meatlover’s omelet and western omelet. We including 2yo and 6yo kids very much enjoyed our breakfast there. Kids especially liked their omelet and scrambled eggs, which made me very happy.
I really liked the architecture of the cafe. It made me feel I am in Baltimore.
